Portuguese mezzo-soprano Rita Filipe is studying lyric singing with Chantal Mathias at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris, France.

Since 2019, Rita has collaborated as a soloist with the Músicos do Tejo (Maestro Marcos Magalhães), Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble MPMP (Maestro Jan Wierzba), Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa (Maestro Pedro Carneiro) and Orquestra Académica de Lisboa (Maestro Tiago Oliveira), Divino Sospiro (Maestro Massimo Mazzeo).

She made her opera debut at OperaFest Lisboa, taking part in Maratona I, a competition of contemporary operas by Portuguese composers. Over the last few years she has given life to the characters Lugrezzia in Pergolesi's Lo Frate Nnamorato at the Helsinki Musiikkitalo (Finland); 2nd Lady in Mozart's Magic Flute at the Gulbenkian Grand Auditorium; Maddalena in Il Viaggio a Reims at the Centro Cultural de Belém; and Suor Infermieira in Puccini's Suor Angelica.

In concert, Rita has performed Bach's St. John Passion, Mozart's Requiem, Vivadi's Gloria, and Žofka in Janáček's song cycle The Diary of One Who Disappeared.

As a chorister, she took part in the operas at OperaFest Lisboa - Tosca and Madama Butterfly by Puccini. In France, Rita collaborated with the Ensemble Pygmalion in the production of Gluck's Orpheus and Eurydice and in Bach's Les Chemins, in Versailles, Vienna, Toulouse and Paris, conducted by Raphaël Pichon. Rita was a member of the Coro Gulbenkian, Nova Era Vocal Ensemble and Ensemble Vocal Aura. With the Nova Era Vocal Ensemble, she had the opportunity to work with Daniel Reuss, Joseph Vila and Bernie Sherlock.

In 2022, the mezzo-soprano recorded and performed with the Ensemble MPMP the winning pieces in the "Prémios Musa 22" competition, a competition for the composition of contemporary works.

In 2024, Rita recorded with Real Câmara-Baroque Orchestra and Passacaille Records “Responsórios de 6ª Feira Santa” de José Joaquim Dos Santos.

In the same year, she won 2nd place in the 13th National Singing Competition.

She attended the singing course at the Artistic School of the National Conservatory with António Wagner Diniz from 2019-2022, finishing the singing course with a maximum grade. Rita Filipe has taken part in masterclasses with Léa Sarfati, Christian Hilz and Andrea de Carlo.

Alongside her experience in classical music, Rita Filipe has also performed regularly with the TEMA Group in the show Dois Dedos de Poesia and in theater shows. Rita has a degree in Theatre - Acting from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema.
